The history and background to The Tutukaka Marina. The gateway to the North.
A bit more about us
In 1970 the Northland Harbour Board began a reclamation for the Marina at the head of the Tutukaka Harbour. The Marina has grown from a few pile moorings, to walk on timber pontoons, to the modern concrete pontoons you see today.
Roughly half-way between Auckland and the Bay of Islands, Tutukaka Marina’s close proximity to blue water for game fishing and the Poor Knights Islands marine reserve make it a favourite spot to base your boat or stop-over for a few nights.
The surrounding coastline has many harbours to explore and beautiful beaches.
Tutukaka Marina also has very good facilities offering overnight berths, 24/7 Fuel, fresh water, excellent restaurants, a renowned Fishing Club and a well-appointed General Store for provisioning.
For land-based activities, beautiful bush walks and some of the best beaches in NZ are right around the corner.
See you soon!

Home of Whangarei Deep Sea Anglers Club
The Whangarei Deep Sea Anglers Club (WDSAC) building was begun in 1973 alongside the marina and adjacent boat ramp. There has always been a strong connection between the club and the Marina. WDSAC founded in 1944 has been based in Tutukaka since 1953 and is one of five original clubs that established the NZ Big Game Fishing Council back in 1957.
